A Longwood D Screen Finally Goes Into Retirement
1 February 2008
It has recently come to our attention that the Longwood Engineering “Parkwood DM3 Screen”, shown in the picture, has been in operation since 1959. There are also two other screens still in use at this UK Cider factory. A DM screen from 1959 and a more “modern” D75 screen which was installed in 1969.
However, the DM screen has finally given up after 49 years continuous service and called it a day. This Parkwood DM screen will now be replaced, with its modern equivalent being the D16.
Longwood Engineering feels that the longevity of these screens goes a long way to show just how well designed, robust and reliable their screens are.
Alan Taylor (Engineering Director) commented “It has always been the main goal for Longwood Engineering; to supply products that are tough, strong, durable and continue to perform time after time.”
With Longwood Engineering’s philosophy being unchanged since they began back in 1902, this installation proves that Longwood Engineering achieve what they promise.
End.
